Hi all,

more troubles...first here is how I set up my project: I did a sna survey with several questions. I named the project saved it and then open workspaces for each of the sna questions. The problem is that only one of the workspaces gets saved. The other ones are missing all of edges all of a sudden...I had to redo the whole data input several times and the only thing that gets saved is the first workspace I started on (which I had tried to delete by the way). Also I get an error message "can't open file needs to be gephi..." (i think this one is common)

Jup, just re-checked. NOTHING new gets saved. The only way around it is opening a new project for each sna question, that can't be it...

Hi Freddy,
We have some bugs with .gephi files. I assume you are using Gephi 0.8.1
Can you share the problematic file and your messages.log file after saving it?

Hi Eduardo,

as always, thanks for the quick reply. The file:
C:\Users\Bob\AppData\Roaming\.gephi\(gephi_version\)dev\var\log\message.log
does not exist exist on my drive. Could this be part of the problem? It sure keeps me from working around the "preview problem". I Am using Windows 7. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Uhm, unless you run it from the source code, there should be files under .gephi directory.
(gephi_version\) directory only appears with version 0.8.1, are you using it?

If you can't find any log directory, share the problematic file anyway (you can send it to me by email if it should not be public).

Hi Eduardo,

re-installed again and it seems to be running fine now i.e. I can save and nothing gets lost. The preview problem remains, though. Preview tab is just a blank space but the exporting works.

Hi, nice.
It seems that preview rendering does not work for certain people and it is not clear why this happens.
You can try to update your Java, and don't use OpenJDK if you have it installed.

yep, still stable, but updating Java did not help - still nothing...weird
